Shia LaBeouf Cuts Own Face With Knife For War Film

Hollywood A-lister Shia LaBeouf now belongs to the list of actors who went too far for movie roles.
To make his war wounds real for the new war drama film "Fury," LaBeouf slashed his own face with a knife, as co-star Logan Lerman told British GQ.
The "Percy Jackson" star noted that LaBeouf did not like the fake cuts that was put on him.

''We were in make-up and they were putting cuts on Shia and I said, 'Yeah, yeah, it looks good.' And Shia was like, 'No, it doesn't look real'," Lerman said.
"Then he walks out into the hallway and says, 'Hey man, wanna see something fun? Check this out...' and he takes out a knife and cuts his face. And for the whole movie he kept opening these cuts on his face. That's all real," he added.
Lerman further noted that the 28-year-old actor also insisted on having a dentist remove one of his teeth for the upcoming movie.
"He didn't do it himself. He did go to a dentist and asked them to pull his tooth out. But yeah, what an odd request," he said.
It was also reported that the "Nymphomaniac" star did not wash during the entire shoot and learned to drive a tank to make his portrayal of a tank's gunner more realistic.
"He really spent every moment on that set. He's the guy operating the turret in every shot, even when you don't need to be in there as an actor," Lerman revealed.
"You know, you can have somebody else inside. But he was there, for every shot," the 22-year-old actor added.
LaBeouf's dedication to "Fury" has not gone unnoticed.
Last week, co-star Brad Pitt admitted that he was very impressed on LaBeouf's talent and described him as "one of the best actors" he has ever seen.
"Oh, I love this boy. He's full-on commitment, man. He's living it like no one else, let me tell you," Pitt told GQ.
"I've been fortunate enough to work with a lot of great actors. He's one of the best I've seen," he added.
Aside from LaBeouf, Lerman, and Pitt, actors Michael Pena and Scott Eastwood also joined the cast of "Fury" that is scheduled to hit U.S. theaters on October 17.
Some actors feel they need to immerse themselves in the role, on and off screen, in order to give a believable performance.
Similar to what LaBeouf did, movie icon Robert De Niro spent $5,000 for a dentist to have his teeth ground down and deformed for his role as a criminal psychopath in 1991 "Cape Fear."
De Niro felt prosthetics wouldn't do.
His effort seems to have paid off as he received Golden Globe and Academy Award nominations in the Best Actor category for the role.
De Niro's portrayal of Max Cady in "Cape Fear" is still hailed as one of the best characters on film until now.
