Michael Phelps Suspended for 6 Months by USA Swimming

After announcing that Michael Phelps will be entering an inpatient treatment program, USA Swimming is suspending the athelete for six months, it announced Monday.
Phelps, who had made a comeback after a two- year retirement, will not be allowed to represent the U.Ss at the 2015 FINA World Swimming Championships that will be held in Russia in August 2015.

The DUI arrest that happened last Tuesday is the second time the 29 -year-old swimmer was arrested for the same reason, the first one in 2004.
USA Swimming Executive Director, Chuck Wielgus released as statement saying, "Membership in USA Swimming includes clear obligation to adhere to our Code of Conduct. Should any infraction occur, it is our responsibility to take the appropriate action. Michael's conduct was serious and required significant consequences."
Documents indicate that the swimmer registered a 0.14 percent on a Breathalyzer test after being pulled over. Maryland's intoxication limit is 0.08 percent. The swimmer was also clocked by radar to have been traveling 84 miles per hour in a 45 mph zone.
In addition to his earlier statement, Chuck Wielgus added "Michael has publicly acknowledged the impact of his decisions and is taking full responsibility especially due to his stature in the sport and the steps necessary for self-improvement. We are here to fully support his personal development actions."
