Police said the eight suspects' urine samples all tested positive for amphetamines and the suspects all admitted they illegally used drug. The case is currently under further investigation.
Li's company released a statement on Tuesday night saying the company expressed "deep regret and sorrow" for the incident and apologized to Li's fans and the public on behalf of Li.
According to related laws, Li did not constitute a crime because he did not hold a large amount of illegal drug. However, drug use is basically an illegal act, so he may be detained for up to fifteen days or fined up to 2000 RMB. He will also be forced to undergo drug rehabiliation treatment.
Li, 25, from Heilongjiang, gained popularity in the first season of "The Voice of China", a Chinese reality talent show aired in the summer of 2012 on Zhejiang TV.
He became one of the most popular singers of the show after he sang the song, "You Exist in My song", originally by Qu Wanting.
Ping An, also a famous singer from the same talent show, was shocked after he heard the news. Everyone, no matter who, should exercise self-discipline, and we should set a good example as public figures, said Ping.
