131 Dead Hogs Dumped in Ganjiang River in Jiangxi

The water authority of Nanchang City immediately responded to what could have been a serious water contamination in Ganjiang River, a major river in eastern Jiangxi Province.

At least 131 dead hogs were found and collected from the river, raising alarm to locals and water authorities.

The dead pigs are believed to have come from the upper reaches of the river.

Environmental and health authorities abruptly conducted tests and found that the water supply is still safe for consumption.

The hogs on the other hand were safely disposed.

In Huangpu River in Shanghai last year, thousands of dead pigs were found, triggering fear not only among residents but business establishments as well.

The Ministry of Environmental Protection recently released a study saying that an estimated 280 million China residents, who are mostly living in provincial areas, consume unsafe drinking water.
