Sprint announced Tuesday its new Business Share Plans will give businesses with up to 50 lines in a shared data plan offering as much as 200 gigabytes of data that eliminates the need to purchase individual data plans for each device.

The third-largest wireless carrier in the United States claims this could save subscribers as much as 56 percent in costs. The plan starts at US$90 for 20 gigabytes of data on up to 10 devices. Larger companies, on the other hand, may avail of a US$675 plan for 200 GB of shared data over 50 lines.

Sprint is also offering a special bargain to lure in subscribers from rivals for the month of October. Until Oct. 31, businesses that transfer to Sprint will get a US$150 credit per line beyond the minimum trade-in credit of up to US$150 for every transferred smartphone, which could be applied toward a device with Sprint.

Top mobile service providers have been upping the ante by attempting to top each other with more data, more features and cheaper plans.

Sprint has aggressively pushed a new set of promotions and wireless plans since Chief Executive Officer Marcelo Claure took over in August, all in an attempt to prevent its subscribers from migrating to other networks.

Carriers have generally focused on family and consumer plans, but are also trying to woo more medium and small-sized businesses, as well.

Meanwhile, a competing company also has new plans with new data deals.

AT&T announced on Sept. 27 it will double the amount of data on the company's shared data plans starting at the 15 gigabyte tier.

To avail of the added data, subscribers must first bring their own phone or sign up for Next, AT&T's monthly installment plan. The promotion started Sept 28 and will end Oct. 31, the same day that Sprint's special deal ends.
