Following his arrest last September for causing trouble outside his former wife's house, Hong Kong's Tuen Mun magistrate denied Roy Chow's bail plea, stating that he is mentally unstable.
Last October 3, Chow attended a court hearing in Tuen Mun where his lawyer offered a $30,000 HKD in cash and $20,000 HKD in guarantee in order to have the former actor bailed out, but it was rejected by the presiding judge.

The magistrate of Tuen Mun decided to detain Chow on grounds that he is mentally unstable. Furthermore, despite being on an18-month probation, he still harasses his former wife, Yu Chiu. The judge pointed out that regardless of degree, no one should send death threats to anyone.
The decision of judge resulted from an incident in late September when Chow came to Chiu's house and caused ruckus outside. Chow allegedly came to pick up photos of his daughter, but was denied and told to leave. In turn, the actor threw a fit and insulted his Chiu again.
Additionally, he has purportedly sent messages to his former wife, threatening to kill her and their two daughters, and commit suicide afterwards. Shortly after sending the message, he allegedly went to his father-in-law's house, demanding to see his kids.
Chiu's parents told him to leave, but have also notified the police of what he did which resulted to his arrest. Chow was charged with criminal intimidation.
On earlier reports, the actor has been hospitalized for minor brain edema and rumor has it that Chow is suffering from naso-pharynx cancer, but his side refused to comment on the matter.
The actor will be attending another court hearing on October 10, but will be detained until further decisions are made.
On the other hand, when Chiu was asked about her former husband, the former Cantopop singer says that she will continue praying for him and that she hopes he will continue working to move forward in his life.
