Even the famous Unreal Engine is on board the free access promo. Other names include DigitalOcean, HackHands and Crowdflower.
Over 100,000 students thus far have been given free access to the developer pack. Students also get free access to an account in GitHub, which usually costs about $7 a month, according to a Github spokesperson.
Other companies on board with the program also give similar advantages to students. The usual US$19 per month service charge for Unreal Engine is now free to students.
Also, the DigitalOcean platform credit worth US$100 is now accessible to students. If student projects do earn money, the companies can collect compensation once the projects make their first US$1,000.
If a student already owns an existing account at GitHub, he will get automatic access to the GitHub developer pack. A minimum age of 13 years old is also required to access the GitHub Developer Pack.
GitHub is a web-based service that hosts and offers source code management. The company offers paid plans for private repositories and some free accounts, including the newly announced GitHub developer pack. Over 3 million users have subscribed to GitHub so far this year.
