Gwyneth Paltrow Reacts to Martha Stewart, Says Lifestyle Guru was “Psyched” by Goop’s Success

Gwyneth Paltrow has finally spoken after Martha Stewart slammed her for "trying to be Martha Stewart."

At the Fortune's Most Powerful Women Summit Tuesday evening, the Academy Award-winning celebrity seemed head-on despite the lifestyle guru's criticisms against her.

"No one has ever said anything bad about me before, so I'm shocked and devastated," Paltrow joked.

"I'll try to recover."

In the Fall 2014 issue of Porter magazine, Martha Stewart had scathing remarks on the actress, who was also founder of the lifestyle media, Goop.

"She just needs to be quiet-she's a movie star," Stewart said in an interview with the magazine.

"If she were confident in her acting, she wouldn't be trying to be Martha Stewart," she continued.

Paltrow's response, however, leaves the media with the notion that seemed more flattered by Stewart's remark, rather than saddened.

"If I'm really honest, I'm so psyched that she sees us as competition," the Iron Man leading lady said.

"I really am."

And the Stewart-Paltrow square off does not end there.

Earlier this week, Paltrow welcomed Lisa Gersh into the Goop team.

Gersh was tasked to take charge of Goop as its new CEO.

Gersh was Martha Stewart Living's former president and COO.

"She's the perfect person to build on the momentum we have already created at Goop, and to diversify our opportunities to bring Goop's positive energy directly to consumers in what they read, what they try, what they buy and how they live," the actress said in a press release.

Meanwhile, speaking at the Fortune's Most Powerful Women Summit, Paltrow aired her happiness at the success of her brand.

Still, she can't believe how far her business has gone to.

"When I started it, it really was just for myself and my friends," she said.

"I didn't foresee the community I was creating. I sometimes look back and say, 'What the heck, what was I doing?"
