Despite Loss to Seattle Seahawks, Washington Redskins Strangely Happy in Locker Room

Washington Redskins head coach Jay Gruden is investigating the upbeat and cheerful disposition that his players felt after their fourth loss to the Seattle Seahawks, 27-17.
Despite the three touchdowns by Seahawks wide receiver Percy Harvin that were called back due to penalties, the Redskins still didn't do enough to win the game.

The Seahawks started strong in the first half, with quarterback Russell Wilson finding Jermaine Kearse for a 15 yard touchdown pass, and Wilson himself running into the end zone for a touchdown.
The Redskins' quarterback, Kirk Cousins only threw two touchdown passes: one in the second quarter, a 60 yard pass to DeSean Jackson, and another to Andre Roberts in the fourth. Kai Forbath's field goal in the third quarter put the Redskins up to 17.
That was all the Redskins had on offense.
Wilson was in complete control for the whole game, finding multiple receivers and orchestrating the Seahawks offense as expected from the defending Super Bowl champions.
The loss should have left the Redskins in a less-than-favorable state. However, Gruden and his coaching staff head that the players were in a joyous and celebratory mood in the locker room instead.
''If it was upbeat, it shouldn't be, and that is disappointing that it was because they played their hearts out," Gruden said. "They played hard, I thought. We lost the game. No reason to be upbeat, though, whatsoever.''
Gruden said that when he spoke to the players after the game, they were exhausted and dejected. He tried to console his team though, as they improved from a 31-point deficit in the previous game.
The head coach said that he himself has not smiled for the past two days. "When you do lose you want people to be sick about it," he said.
As the Redskins are now 1-4 in their record, Gruden says that they are still in need of a player who will stand up and take charge of the team.
The team will have a practice week off and will face the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday.
