Researchers from the University of Washington have found that a 15-month-old child already has the ability to detect anger through observing other people's social interaction.
They use this emotional information as their guide for their own behavior, they added.
Betty Repacholi, one of the researchers, said that at 15 months, children can understand the social interaction among other people.

She added that their study confirmed that toddlers that don't have speaking abilities use visual and social cues to understand other people.
Andrew Meltzoff, another researcher involved in the study, said that as they found out about the origins of self-control they found that most of the toddlers were able to regulate their behavior.
However, they also discovered individualities on the toddlers can predict differences in children as they grow up, which can also help predict if a child is ready to go to school.
For this study, researchers looked at the attitude of 150 toddlers aged 15 months while they sat on their parent's laps and watch the researchers demonstrate how to use different toys.
After that, a second person called the "emoter" will enter the room and complain in an angry voice about playing with the toys.
When the children were allowed to play, researchers noticed that when the emoter turned her back or did not look at the children, they would gladly play with the toy.
However, if the emoter would watch a child or look at a magazine the children would hesitate for a moment before they reach out and play.
Aside from this, the researchers asked the parents to fill out a questionnaire that asks the behavior of the children on their early childhood to know their temperament.
They found out that if a toddler is naturally impulsive they are more likely to perform forbidden actions even if an angry adult is watching them.
Researchers advise parents that if they want to regulate their children it is important for them to know multiple cues that can help them decide what to do and not do.
They believe that their study provides first evidence that toddlers are capable of using multiple cues that can help them understand the people around them.
