New Energy Cars Take a Stab at China’s Automobile Market

As China battles another round of smog this week, people were getting more receptive to eco-friendly solutions to the recurring haze.

Enter the new energy automobile, which has long remained in the backstage, but now is suddenly being propelled by full government support.

In mid February, the Zinoro 1E, a BMW's newly-developed all-electric sedan made its debut as one of the seven car models included in the Beijing's New Energy Vehicle Catalogue.

Zinoro Beijing offers an innovative one-day to three-year rent-only mode of operation.

"Prospective buyers can rent a car even just for a day, to experience and assess its performance before they decide to buy," Wu Haifeng, the  showroom manager explains.

Zinero Beijing also offers consumers a package of time-savings perks such as a one-off fee for license plates, insurance, and after-sales services maintenance and repair.

"Five Zinoro 1e will be dispatched for test runs this coming week. Hundreds of car enthusiasts have lined up for consultations and reservations for test runs," Wu said.

Also included in the Beijing New Energy Vehicle Catalogue is the BYD e6 has filled a need for the car lovers worries about battery endurance of new energy cars.

"The e6 is an all-electric crossover vehicle which combines the properties of an SUV (Sport Utility Vehicle) and the MPV (Multi-Purpose Vehicle)," Ma Linbo, sales manager at the Xin Min Heng BYD 4S showroom announced.

"The driving range of the e6 reaches over 300 kilometers, exceeding that of other self-developed car brands by 50 percent," Ma added.

The e6 and the 1e are eco-friendly but just like all other electric vehicles, they belong to the high-end market.
