Amputees can use their amputated arms once again as modern prosthesis get better han when researchers first ventured into the field.
Researchers from Chalmers University of Technology published an article Wednesday in the Science Translational Medicine journal to let people know how well the research went and how far it has come.

According to the research, it's the same kind of prosthetics that an owner has to remove at night then re-attach again in the morning. The first kinds of prosthesis didn't offer the same kinds of sensation we feel but the latest implant is much different.
A Swedish amputee, who was not identified, underwent the process in which the implanted prosthesis was actually connected to his bone, muscles and nerves.
The prosthesis was thus controlled by his mind just like any other part of his body. Researchers noted their project offers more movement and less discomfort.
They also promised there will be an actual sensation felt in the arm that has implanted prosthesis as work goes on.
The implant is osseointegrated (bone-anchored) into the bone and the Swedish man has worn the prosthesis since January this year.
According to Max Ortiz Catalan, a research scientist at Chalmers University of Technology, osseointegration was used so as to create a stable combination between the patient and the machine.
Catalan added they had to understand the different factors before actually attaching the machine. The artificial arm was attached to the muscles, the nerves and the skeleton to provide both mechanical stability and control.
The Swedish patient who was able to receive the arm is said to being able to drive his truck again and resume working.
Researchers are said to be planning on working on more patients that need this kind of prosthesis throughout the year.
