Chinese startup OnePlus is ready to begin taking pre-orders for its impressive high-end but low-cost mobile called "One" this October.

Reports said "flagship killer" OnePlus One is currently available only via invitation. In this way, the company can control demand and make it available to everyone.

"The main issue with the invite model is that people need to invest considerable time into finding an invite. For some, this means making new friends at the OnePlus Forums, but others just want to buy the device. How can we improve the experience for the latter group while still managing our risk? Our answer to this problem is the OnePlus Pre-order System," said Carl Pei on its OnePlus Blog.

Anyone can place an order for a OnePlus One for a limited time; if there's an available stock, they will ship it right away. Unlucky ones will be placed on a pre-order list.

The pre-order period offers unlimited numbers to order. Depending on when interested consumers place their order, it could take weeks or months before a user receives his OnePlus One device.

OnePlus One sells at US$299 without any wireless carrier's plan. The price is less than half the cost of high-end mobile phone from tech giants like Apple, HTC, and Samsung.

The Chinese startup's new mobile device offers the newest technical specifications.

It features a stunning 5.5-inch display with 1080 x 1920 screen resolution.

Runs Android v4.4.2 (KitKat); is upgradable to v4.4.4 (KitKat) and it's powered by a quad-core Krait 400 processor (Qualcomm Snapdragon 801) clocked at 2.5GHz.

It's got 3 GB of RAM and offers 16 GB and 64 GB of internal storage. Its primary camera is 13 MP while the front camera is 5 MP. The battery can last heavy use and full workdays.

OnePlus has not yet announced the specific site for its pre-order system but expect it late October.
