Colin Kaepernick, San Francisco 49ers quarterback, was fined US $10,000 for wearing Beats headphones.

Kaepernick and his 49ers were in high spirts, as they had just beat the Kansas City Chiefs after succeeding with a fake punt.

Despite throwing only one touchdown - a nine yard pass to Stevie Johnson - Kaepernick threw for a total of 201 yards.

After their game last Sunday however, Kaepernick was seen wearing Beats headphones. Kaepernick was one of the main athletes shown in a Beats advertisement before.

This did not fly well with the NFL, as the organization has already signed an exclusive deal with Bose. Kaepernick continued to wear it during the press conference.

They went on to say that any player will not be allowed to wear the Beats headphones before the games or at any time where there might be cameras on the field at an NFL event.

On game day, the ban runs for 90 minutes until after a game has finished. This also includes any training camp or offseason workout session where a player might be interviewed in front of a camera.

Even though the headphones were pink as a symbol of support for breast cancer, he still had to pay the US $10,000 fine for it.

When reporters asked Kaepernick if Beats would shoulder the fine, he just said, "I'm going to let that be unanswered."

Similarly, FIFA had also banned the Beats headphones during the World Cup several months ago. Much like the NFL, FIFA had struck a deal with Sony that required the banning of all other types of headphones.

The action has since caused outrage in the fans, questioning the motives and values of the NFL. Some people wonder why Kaepernick gets fined for Us $10,000, while an illegal chop block by Julian Thomas is only fined for US $8,000.
