The intense anxiety caused by the spread of the Ebola virus to the United States was even heightened on Wednesday.
This was after Thomas Eric Duncan died 10 days after being diagnosed with Ebola outside Africa. A law officer who was present in Duncan’s apartment was later admitted to the hospital.

Frisco mayor Maher Maso said there is minimal risk during the immediately-called press conference regarding the law enforcement officer’s condition. The mayor also said authorities are moving with utmost caution.
Mark Piland, Frisco’s fire chief, said the officer came to Duncan’s apartment last week. The law enforcer made contact with the people living there who were not showing Ebola symptoms but were under quarantine.
The man identified as a Dallas county deputy sheriff was brought to the hospital by an ambulance. He was said to be feeling Ebola-like symptoms which can also be signs of other diseases. The crew of the ambulance wore protective suits and did decontamination steps for the sheriff.
Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital confirmed the man was brought to their facility. This was the same hospital where Duncan gave in to the virus. In a statement, the hospital said it will take 48 hours before the official results of the test would be returned.
People who were in the urgent waiting room were allowed to leave but were asked to monitor their wellbeing. This was after the man showed low risk compared to the 10 others with whom Duncan made contact.
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention officials said the deputy did not pose high risk symptoms. They also said the condition does not seem to be an Ebola case. Furthermore they said the deputy has not come in direct contact with Duncan neither showing any typical Ebola signs.
Last week, authorities were criticized after failing to lock down the apartment where Duncan stayed and made contact with others. Unauthorized entries and exits were also not prevented. Authorities were also criticized for the amount of time spent to decontaminate the place.
