Malala Yousafzai is now the youngest recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize and was at school when it was announced on Friday.
According to the Nobel awards committee, Malala was chosen for the award because of her work in promoting education for girls worldwide.
"This award is an achievement for all girl students of Pakistan," said 19-year-old student Badrai Khan, who is from Swat, the home region of Malala. Khan said there are not many in the world who are as brave as Malala.

Others say that the award is mere formality since people already respected her.
Malala was shot in the head by the Taliban in 2012 as she was on her way home from school. She was targeted then because of her actions towards female's rights to education
Meanwhile, Malala is expected to make a statement about the award later today.
In 2013, many thought she would get the award, but it went to the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons.
This year, however, because of the abduction of the Nigerian schoolgirls by the Boko Haram, Malala's activism has expanded into a global level.
In an interview with the ABC News in July, Malala talked about her second nomination for the Nobel Peace Price.
According to Malala, she did not deserve the award last year because her campaign was "not over nor completed yet."
The teen activist added that when she has already reached her goals and see that she has done something, "then I'll think that Ok, now I deserve it."
The 17-year-old Malala shares the award with Kailash Satyarthi, a 60-year-old Indian education activist, who fought against the exploitation of children.
According to the founder of Turn Your Concern into Action Foundation, Mohit Raj, of Delhi, India, Kailash is the first person to come to mind when speaking about advocates of child rights in India.
Raj said that the honor that Kailash received will serve as an inspiration for every activists fighting for Indian child rights.
