Following the news that South Korean boy band EXO's Chinese member Lu Han filed a lawsuit to nullify his contract with SM Entertainment, anonymous insiders shed light to the conflict between the singer and his managing company.
As different sources suggested that Lu will be leaving EXO, speculations have come out regarding his reasons for filing the lawsuit, one being the unjust distribution of funds among band members and his wish to be with his family in Beijing.

According to an industry representative, Lu wants to leave the group as there is a problem with the distribution of revenue, not within the company, but among the 11 members of the band.
Furthermore, Lu allegedly decided to leave EXO in order to promote in China which is speculated to be a better environment for him. Additionally, the China entertainment industry is said to be offering him better conditions for work.
In the past, it had been rumored that he was offered to star in several dramas but SME declined. Now, insider sources say that Lu wants to leave the company considering his recognition level in China, which SME thinks is absurd.
Another cause that the rep has pointed out was that Chinese members of the band are leaving first because of the inequality when it comes to treatment between Korean and Chinese talents. According to the rep, the Chinese members think that they will be better protected in China.
According to another insider, there are more male foreign recruits filing lawsuits and deciding to leave the company before their contracts end as they are of foreign background with different mindsets and values.
Other than that, the insider says that the contract termination is mostly a fault that should be attributed to the idol for not understanding the contract thoroughly.
Some foreign talents are said to be allegedly blinded by the glamorous life of being an idol only to realize later that it isn't what it seems the moments they become active artists in Korea.
Finally, the insider says that in the future, there will be lesser foreign recruits because of the trend, especially those who are from China as many international laws can't be applied when they get involved in lawsuits.
