After news broke that EXO's Lu Han has filed a lawsuit against SM Entertainment to nullify his contract, the company has released an official statement confirming the singer's departure from the band.
SME has finally spoken up about the issue regarding Lu's alleged lawsuit against the company to have his contract terminated, claiming that they knew nothing about the matter and only received it through the company's corporate law firm.

Last Friday, October 10, SME's corporate law firm is said to have received a complaint from Lu Han, rendering the personnel shocked as they have not received any word about it beforehand.
According to the statement, Lu filed the lawsuit just when the company is processing the negotiations regarding the singer's future schedule. The singer allegedly expressed his wish to focus more on his solo activities in China over his group schedules with EXO. SME also mentioned that Lu pointed out the matter about his health condition in the supposed negotiations.
On the other hand, SME pointed out that the lawsuit that Lu filed was similar in nature to the one that Kris Wu, another Chinese member of EXO who left in May, filed.
SME stated that the case was filed for no reason at all. Besides that, they have pointed out that after gaining popularity as a star through group activities, Lu took the same route that Wu did when he filed his lawsuit earlier this year.
The companies pointed out that Lu's actions reflect his choice to prioritize his solo career. The company also stated that Lu chose to ignore his contract as well as everyone involved in the contract and activities of EXO as a group.
SME then stated that due to the recurring pattern, they are speculating that there is a third party involved behind the scenes, saying that there are people involved in convincing the foreign artists to leave the company.
The company says that they will be responding actively to the matter with their partners overseas which include China. The company will also take legal action against the matter.
On the other hand, SME stated that EXO's future activities will go on as scheduled despite Lu's absence.
