After attracting a lot of media attention recently, Shia LaBeouf opens up to Ellen Degeneres about the latest things that have been happening in his life.

On Friday, October 10, LaBeouf guested in the "Ellen Degeneres Show" in which he talked about what it was like in his life after he was arrested in June.

The 28-year-old actor was quick to admit his mischief and behavior. "I went through this existential crisis. Which turned into like, explorations. I had some hiccups, some judgment errors," he told Degeneres.

Degeneres brought up LaBeouf's antics at the premier of his movie, "Nymphomaniac" last February. She asked him why the actor wore a brown paper bag over his head that had "I am not famous anymore" on it.

He later apologized for his bizarre behavior when he did a performance art piece entitled #IAMSORRY in which people would come to him and say whatever they wanted.

According to LaBeouf, he noticed the abundance of negativity online and he was curious to see what it was all about, so he did a performance that welcomed the negativity.

"I figured maybe someone will pull my fingernails off," he said. "We had these one-on-one situations where we'd invite one person at a time and they can do whatever they wanted... I was sitting in there broken. I was really truly apologetic," he said.

LaBeouf recounts though, that his encounter with each stranger was "very loving."

His public meltdown in June, where he was arrested in NYC for disturbing Michelle Williams and Alam Cumming's performance in the Broadway show "Cabaret," was due to him seeking treatment for alcoholism.

"Jail was quite scary," LaBeouf shared. "I was there for, it felt like forever, I think 24 hours, 25 hours... I really went all the way with it, they put a "Hannibal" mask on me and a led jacket. It was very scary."

The actor also shared what -- or rather, who -- got him out of his existential crisis.

LaBeouf spoke lovingly about his mother, Shayna Saide, who told him to "stop f--king around."

"It's been a process, you know? I am quite stubborn as an only child. It's just me and her. She was mom and dad... Now I'm on the right path," the actor said.
