Chinese President Xi Jinping called for an enhancement of the trade and investment partnership between Germany and China during a meeting with the Minister for Economics & Energy and Vice-Chancellor Sigmar Gabriel on Saturday.
Xi highlighted that trade, investment and economics are the basic foundations of a dynamic German-Chinese relation where areas are open for further in-depth promotion.

The Chinese president cited the fact that China is moving into a new era of agriculture & urban modernization, industrialization and informationization, transforming its own economic structures into a model that can drive new opportunities for Sino-German cooperation.
YUAN TRADING IN FRANKFURT
To highlight the growing and expanding economic relations of China and Germany, the People's Bank of China and the Bundesbank, Germany's central bank, signed an agreement on Saturday to permit the settlement and clearing of Yuan transactions in Frankfurt.
The city of Frankfurt is Germany's financial hub and would serve as the first currency trading center in the Euro-zone to manage transactions of the Yuan.
Xi met up with German Chancellor Angela Merkel early Saturday and described the next ten years as a crucial period for mutual growth that would benefit the whole of Europe.
On the part of the German Chancellor, Ms. Merkel thanked Xi and China for the trust and support on the Euro when it faced a Eurozone currency crisis. Merkel gave her commitment to strengthen cooperation on the Yuan.
NEW ERA IN RELATIONS
The two countries are expected to set new dialogue mechanisms on diplomacy and security that will roll out in the 5-10 years.
Ambassador Michael Clauss, Germany's envoy to China, is optimistic on Sino-German relations, citing the growing German investment into China, and hoped the Chinese would likewise increase their investment into Germany.
To demonstrate the immensity of Sino-German trade relations, a train loaded with computers and related products arrived in the German city of Duisburg, an industrial hub in the North Rhine-Westphalia regions. The train traveled for 16-days non-stop through Asia, Central Asia and into Europe from China's western-most industrial city of Chongqing.
The rail line called "Yuxinou" stretches to 11,000 kilometers (24,000 miles) and dubbed as the "modern-day silk road." In ancient times, the "Silk Road" is the trade route that linked the former kingdom of China to Europe.
