Piracy has been around for years, and with the onset of digital piracy, it has now infiltrated the business of several major sports organizations.
The Digital Citizens Alliance have made a report stating that as of 2014, online piracy has generated more than US $220 million from the previous year alone.

The organizations that are current victims are the National Basketball Association (NBA), the National Football League (NFL), the National Hockey League (NHL), the Major Baseball League (MLB), and the Ultimate Fighting Championship.
The signals for these digital pirates are being seen all over the globe, with raids breaking up several operations in Botswana, Belgium, and Egypt.
These pirates use several methods to steal content. First of all, hackers can use special decryption devices to steal satellite signals.
Another way is by unscrewing the coaxial cables from the back of their televisions, taking a US $20 adapter that connects to the computer and transmitting the signal on to the internet.
The reality now is that digital pirates are cropping up, and more and more people are availing of these services online.
According to a survey prepared by YouGov and Populus, 50 percent of 1,115 Americans aged 18 to 34 admitted to watching pirated content.
Ricky Bruce, an analyst for NetNames - an anti-piracy company - said that consumers will always find the cheapest way to consume content.
This is especially true now, since people are being forced to pay for content that was previously readily available and free to them.
People today are cutting out their cable subscriptions due to its unbearable price. However, the younger generations did not ever have cable, as they could find their content online.
Even Tom Brady, quarterback to the New England Patriots, had admitted to watching the previous years' Super Bowl off a pirated link.
With this rising dilemma, the major sporting organizations are taking it very seriously. These organizations now have positions in their company that are devoted to shutting down, tracking down, and arresting these internet pirates.
