On Sunday, the Jiangxi provincial work safety bureau confirmed that the six miners died in the hospital. A rescue operation was also being conducted for the worker who remained missing as of this posting.
The landslide occurred at around 5 pm on Saturday in Yichun City. It was not immediately known if the mining operation had proper permits.
Last January, four persons were killed after being buried in a landslide in Zhejiang province. The fatalities were working on a road construction site when the landslide occurred.
Authorities said five persons were pulled out from the mud and then rushed to the hospital but only one of the rescued persons survived. The fatalities include three women and a man.
On the same month in Yunnan, 46 people were confirmed dead after they were buried in a landslide in Zhenxiong county of Zhaotong.
The fatalities, who were all residents of Gaopo village, included 27 adults and 19 children, the official Xinhua News Agency said.
The bodies of the victims were pulled out from the muddy debris by more than 1,100 rescue workers who joined in the search and retrieval operation.
The mudslide was so huge that it produced about 200,000 cubic meters of mud and rock, burying the entire village that has 135 households. The entire village has already been relocated.
