Shutout Loss of Giants Made Worse by Victor Cruz's Torn Patella Tendon

Despite the dominating performance that the Philadelphia Eagles played against the New York Giants, - with the game ending at 27-0 - their loss was made even grimmer with wide receiver Victor Cruz suffering a torn patellar tendon.

For the first time in franchise history, the Eagles took to the field wearing all-black uniforms. Their impressive performances continued to this game. It was all Eagles, all night long.

The offensive maelstrom of the Eagles started with a 31-yard field goal by Cody Parker, and a 15-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Nick Foles to Zach Ertz to cap off a 10-play drive.

Foles struck gold again early in the second with a 26-yard touchdown pass to James Casey. After another field goal by Parker, at half time the score was 20-0.

Early in the third, the Giants elected to go for a touchdown on fourth-and-goal on the Eagles' three yard line.

Cruz had found an opening, but as he caught the ball, his leg twisted and he was on the ground clutching his knee. He was carted off the field and is out for the season.

The final touchdown for the Eagles came in the third, with Darren Sproles running 15 yards in to the end zone.

Apart from the offense though, the Eagles defense had an amazing performance, harassing Eli Manning and sacking him for a total of six times. Prior to this game, Manning had only been sacked seven times in the first games.

This shutdown game against the Giants is the first of its kind since the Eagles did a similar 20-0 performance against the Giants again back in 1996.

Foles threw for 248 yards and LeSean McCoy had a season-high 149 yards.

This win improves the Eagles' record to 5-1, a tie with the Dallas Cowboys. Both these teams are vying for the lead in the NFC East.
