Archaeologists have discovered a large floor mosaic at Amphipolis in northern Greece during a dig at a huge ancient burial site that might be the tomb of Alexander the Great.
The intricate floor mosaic is believed to be another royal Macedonian grave. It measures 3 meters (10ft) wide and 4.5 meters (15ft) long, the Culture Ministry announced Sunday.

It depicts a horseman wearing a laurel wreath on his head on a chariot pulled by two white horses while being led by the Greek god of trade and travelers, Hermes, BBC News reported.
Hermes is depicted as the intercessor between mortals and the divine. He is also a conductor of souls to the afterlife.
The mosaic consists of white, black, gray, blue, red and yellow pebbles. It came to light when Katerina Peristeri, one of archaeologists, removed dirt and soil from the tomb's second chamber behind the massive Caryatids.
Photos from Greece's Culture Ministry posted online, shows the center of the mosaic has been damaged. But many of the pieces from the damaged area were found nearby, authorities confirmed.
Excavators trace the mosaic's origins to the last quarter of 4th century B.C. (325-300 B.C.), consistent with the belief the grave holds the remains of the ancient Greek King of Macedonia, Alexander the Great, or somebody related to the King.
Some speculate the tomb could be the burial place of a member of Alexander's immediate family. Others believe it could be a cenotaph, or a monument built-in honor of a person.
