Talk to a Doc via Google's new Telemedicine service

Google is testing a "Talk with a doctor now" service that connects users searching for health advice with medical doctors online.

The search engine giant is currently testing the service offering doctor's consultation via video chat, said Redditor and developer Jason Houle.

Google confirmed it's trying a new feature to see if it's useful to people, said Engadget, a tech website.

"When you're searching for basic health information -- from conditions like insomnia or food poisoning -- our goal is give you the most helpful information available," Google said.

This service could be called "Telemedicine." The service works based on users' search queries.

Google will display a "Talk with a doctor now" link, accompanied by a Google Hangouts icon, toward the top of the search. This indicates Google will use the Hangout feature as a medium to connect a patient with a doctor.

During the trial phase, the Telemedicine service will be free to a limited number of users as part of Google's Helpouts live video chat service.

The Internet giant is going to cover the cost of the program but once Telemedicine is launched, Google is expected to charge users consulting a doctor online.

Google didn't release further details about the trial program.
