Military leaders of the members of the U.S.-led coalition against the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), also known as Daesh, will attend a summit in Washington tomorrow to talk about ways to contain the militant group's advances in Iraq and Syria.
The said summit marks the first time that top military bigwigs from various countries have gathered since the formation of the coalition, which now includes 60 nations, in September, The New Zealand Herald reported.

U.S. Colonel Ed Thomas, spokesperson for the Joint Chiefs of Staff chairman, said the generals aim to come up with a "common vision" for the campaign and the problems they will encounter. The U.S. officials, however, remain mum about the expected strategies for the campaign.
France and other partners are pushing the coalition to make concrete moves. Paris wants the coalition members to agree on "key policy issues" and develop a joint strategy with a "regional focus.
One of the ideas brought up was the establishment of a buffer zone along the border between Turkey and Syria. Coalition members are still divided on this idea, but Turkey and France agree that a demilitarized zone should be established, the report relayed.
In the last few weeks, the coalition have been deploying warplanes to bomb the ISIL fighters in Iraq and Syria, but the jihadist group continues to advance to major towns and push back Iraqi forces. On Monday, the militants penetrated the Syrian town of Kobani, causing the town's residents to fear for their lives.
Despite continuous pressure on Iraqi ground troops, the U.S. remains firm in its decision not to send ground troops in Iraq and Syria. U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry maintains that this is the right thing to do and that the coalition will eventually be able to isolate Daesh.
The military summit on Tuesday is expected to commence at 10:00 am (0100 AEDT Wednesday) and continue throughout the day.
