Björk and Depeche Mode Producer Mark Bell Dies At Age 43

Electronic musician and producer Mark Bell passed away earlier today due to complications from surgery. He was 43 years old.

News of Bell's death was announced by his record label, Warp Records.

According to Warp Records' website, "It's with great sadness that we announce the untimely passing of Mark Bell of LFO who died last week from complications after an operation. Mark's family & friends request privacy at this difficult time."

No other details about the operation or the complications that caused his death have been revealed.

Aside from collaborating with well-known artists such as Björk and Depeche Mode, Bell was a founding member of the electronic pioneering duo LFO alongside Gez Varley.

LFO was founded in 1988 and from then, has become known as the leading groups in the rave scene. Their first self-titled track was Warp Records' first single to reach the Top 20 chart.

In 1996, Varley left LFO and Bell focused on producing records for other artists.

He produced tDepeche Mode's entire 2001 album, "Exciter", as well as Björk's 1997 album, "Homogenic," which was nominated for a Grammy.

Bell and Björk continued working together until his recent death.

Aside from "Homogenic", Bell was also involved in Björk's 1998 tours and her 2007-2008 Volta tour.

Many artists in the dance genre took to social media to express their sorrow over his passing.

Electronic artist Machinedrum tweeted, "RIP Mark Bell. His work has always been an inspiration, total amazing balance of intensity and lush melodic atmospheres. So tragic :(."

English electronic musician Nathan Fake also took to Twitter to post his feelings, sharing, "horrified to learn about Mark Bell. one of my musical heroes. devastated. RIP."

After Warp announced Bell's passing, Björk uploaded his 1995 remix of her song, "Possibly Maybe" and "Love is the Message" by LFO.
