So, yesterday the internet went a little crazy after the blog of actress Blake Lively posted a somewhat controversial post describing the inspiration for her recent baby shower.

"Georgia peaches, sweet tea, don't we all love a bit of southern charm. These regional mainstays evoke a certain warmth and uniqueness in both style and tradition. The term "Southern Belle" came about during the Antebellum period, it acknowledged women with an inherent social distinction [GAWKER ADDED: "meaning: being white"].These are the women who set the standards for style and appearance. They were the epitome of Southern hospitality with their beauty and grace, but even more with their captivating sensibility. While sometimes depicted as snobby, these belles, are actually in command [GAWKER: "In command of the slaves they owned].They are able to command attention like a hummingbird relishing a bloom. Like the debutantes of the past. Hoop skirts are replaced by flared and pleated A-lines; oversized straw toppers transform into a wide-brimmed hats and snug laid back fedoras. The prowess of the artful southern way of layering - which lies in inadvertent combinations. From overcoats inspired by menswear to the soft flowing separates and the sense of fluidity they bring about, wrap yourself up in tons of layers that make you feel a true sense of lure. Embrace this season and the magic it brings with styles as theatrical as a Dixie drawl. "

Although indirectly stated, it seemed like the description somewhat sounded like an early draft of the Oscar film 40-years a slave. Gawker, the ever so controversial website posted the above description quoting the pregnant actress' blog, Preserve, and also added in a few remarks.

Now, her lawyers are not happy.

Lively's lawyers contacted the Gawker team and are now claiming that the website had painted her in false light and that the post was a false attack.

It is unknown if Gawker will keep the said article on their site or if they will take it down. As of press time the article is still there.
