"Underdogs" follows Jake a shy, talented foosball player. His passion for the game is rivaled only by his love for free-spirited Laura. Guided by her encouragement, he beats the towns big bully, Ace, in a game of foosball. Then all of a sudden everything changes when Ace becomes the world's best soccer player and returns years later to demolish their village and turn it into a new sports stadium. He also kidnaps Laura in the process, and just when it looks like all hope is gone, the toys from Jake's foosball table comes to life. He and the players then go and embark on a wild adventure to save both Laura and their village.
The Weinstein company Co- chairman spoke to the press at the day of the announcement saying "This talented cast takes our script and they enhance it, with their brilliant improvisation and their wonderful chemistry. I'm so proud of these talented actors and comedians."
The movie, which will be dubbed in English before its release by the Weinstein company, will be released in both 2D and 3D. The start of production was not discussed and a release date for the English dubbed film was not announced either.
