Forest Fire Hits North China

Since Sunday, the central government has deployed more than 1,500 people to deal with a forest fire that hit Fuping County in Hebei Province authorities stated on Monday.


Rescue headquarters have also been set up to map out plans on how to contain and control the forest fire that has already affected three sites.

As of Monday afternoon (China time), two forest fires have already been extinguished, while another one was already considered under control, albeit, not totally extinguished yet.

Firebreaks were made in order to contain the blaze, whose origin has not been established as of this posting. Forest fire experts were sent to the area to gather information that would determine the case of the fire, a statement from local authorities said on Monday.

Forest Fire in Shaandong Province

The forest fire in Hebei took place a day after a huge forest fire broke out in Qingdao City, Shaandong Province.

More than 1,700 firefighters were deployed into the area when the blaze broke out on Saturday. No injuries have been reported and the local government has already initiated evacuations to keep the residents safe.

Last March, four people were killed, and scores were injured in trying to contain a forest fire that hit Zhashui Country in Shaanxi Province.

Investigators found out that the said fire was started by a resident in Chejiahe Village following a domestic altercation with his wife. The suspect is now under the custody of the local police.

Another forest fire broke out in Xichang, Sichuan Province on March 18. More than a thousand firefighters, policemen and forest officers were deployed in the area to contain the blaze. A helicopter was also dispatched.
