Kiki Bertens of the Netherlands upset second seeded Alize Cornet and German Annika Beck stunned sixth seeded Roberta Vinci at the BGL Luxembourg Open on Wednesday.
The 22-year-old Bertens needed just two sets to dispose the Frenchwoman 6-2 6-3.
Bertens started off with an early break in the first set and followed it off with another mid-way and served out for the set.

The second set was again in favor of the Dutch lady as she broke the Katowice Open champion once to advance to the quarterfinals.
Next up for Bertens is the winner of the battle between eighth seeded Monica Niculescu of Romania and German Mona Bartel.
Niculescu has placed second in 2011 next to Victoria Azarenka and in 2012 when she was defeated by Venus Williams. She hopes to finally end her losing streak in the finals.
Last year's runner-up Beck defeated 2010 champion Vinci in two straight sets with a surprising "bagel" in the second set 7-5 6-0.
Beck, 20, will face the winner of the match between Pauline Parmentier and Patricia Mayr-Achleitner.
Frenchwoman Parmentier shocked top seeded Andrea Petkovic as she defeated the German in straight sets on Tuesday.
In other matches, fourth seeded Barbora Zahlavova-Strycova won over Alison Van Uytvanck in two sets 6-4 7(7)-6(1) in an earlier match to become the first player to advance to the quarters.
The Czech will face off the winner of the clash between Swedish qualifier Johanna Larsson and Polona Hercog of Slovenia.
Larrson surprised seventh seeded Kirsten Flipkens as she defeated her in straight sets 7(7)-6(5) 6-1 in the opening rounds.
Third seeded Sabine Lisicki and fifth seeded American Varvara Lepchenko will also see action on Wednesday.
Defending champion Caroline Wozniacki chose not to participate in preparation for the prestigious year-ending event, the WTA Finals to be held next week in Singapore.
