In what appeared to be another case of discrimination, cleaners employed in a shopping mall located in the Guangdong province recently found out that their better looking colleagues had been receiving a higher salary compared with the amount they receive every month, as revealed in a report from Nanfang Metropolis Daily on Wednesday.

The cleaners working in a shopping mall found in the city of Dongguan in Guangdong province had learned that their co-workers who have pleasing physical appearance had been earning 150 yuan, or $24, more than those considered to be not as good looking.
In order to settle this issue and enforce equality among the cleaners employed in the same establishment, the workers who had been earning a lower salary compared with the others sought a discussion with their superior seeking to achieve parity. Despite their please, however, the person in command refused to grant their request for equal pay.
Apart from the refusal to grant pay uniformity among all the cleaners working in that same shopping mall, the employee identified as the person who brought into light the issue of salary gap to the media and to the other employees had been fired without any justification from the employer.
According to local authorities, the act of paying higher salaries based on the looks of your employees is a form of discrimination. Hence, the situation in the aforementioned shopping mall in the city will be investigated to determine the liability of the employers and owners.
