Adolf Hitler was addicted to crystal methamphetamine, among many other illicit drugs, according to Hitler's Hidden Drug Habit, an upcoming documentary from U.K. broadcaster Channel 4.

The discover is based on a 47-page U.S. military dossier compiled during World War II, which reported that the Furher was taking an array of 74 different drugs, including what is now commonly known as crystal meth.

Among the other drugs Hitler used were barbiturate tranquilizers, morphine, nasal and eye drops containing cocaine, and bulls' semen to boost his testosterone. The dossier was based on the notes of Hitler's personal physician Theodor Morell, who examined the leader on a daily basis starting in 1936.

Another surprising revelation made by the documentary was that the German leader was apparently high on crystal meth while ranting for two hours at Italian leader Mussolini during a 1943 meeting.

Although these days most people think of methamphetamines had its beginnings in Germany at the end of the 19th century. They were also used by World War II soldiers on both sides to combat fatigue.

In Germany during World War II, the drug was marketed under the name Pervitin, which Hitler took among his many medications. During the war, Pervitin was nicknamed Panzerschokolade by German soldiers, which translates to tank chocolate, reports Spiegel Online.
