American politics is set to usher in another George Bush as son of former Florida governor and potential 2016 presidential candidate Jeb Bush makes his move in Texas in the running as the state's land commissioner.

George P. Bush, grandson and nephew of former U.S. presidents George H W and George W, is vying for Texas Land Commissioner and is currently in the lead against rival Democrat John Cook, according to an April Public Policy poll.

While the position is relatively unknown in parts outside Texas, it serves as an effective stepping stone in to greener pastures in the state's political arena. And given his name and family history, it is only a matter of time before Bush will seek to branch out.

The Republican candidate started his political career early at the age of 12 when he spoke at the Republican National Convention in 1988 where his grandfather was nominated as the party's presidential candidate.

Some critics have scoffed at Bush, claiming that his family's political history has left low bars to overcome.

But if the 38-year-old takes home a victory in the November elections, he will have been the first Bush to actually win his first election, The Independent relayed.

George H W and George W have both lost previous campaign before finally taking the White House - the former in 1992 against Bill Clinton and the latter during his early career. Likewise, his father Jeb only won the Florida governorship the second time around.

On Tuesday, Jeb travelled to West Texas to speak at the Hardin-Simmons University in behalf of his son.

The former Florida governor shared he had no idea why members of the family kept on running for public office but that it was apparent nothing had changed.

He said he was confident of his son's abilities and that he's never seen anyone work harder than any other candidate in the state.
