Sigourney Weaver, famed for her work with the "Alien" movie franchise, says she pities actresses who have never experienced the joys of motherhood.
Weaver has a 24-year old daughter named Charlotte with husband Jim Simpson.
The 64-year old actress believes that without Charlotte in her life, her career wouldn't mean as much because her success as an actress pales in comparison with the rewards of being a mother.

''I feel sorry for women like Katharine Hepburn. She might have won four Academy Awards but she never got to enjoy what it is to be a mother. I find that very sad," she shared.
For more than 60 years, Katharine Hepburn was a leading lady in Hollywood, able to masterfully take on roles from different genres. In 1999, the American Film Institute gave Hepburn the title of the greatest female star in Hollywood history.
But despite her achievements, Weaver believes that the late great Hepburn was incomplete because she wasn't a mother.
Although Weaver clearly loves being a mother herself, she believes that it isn't Hollywood's responsibility to take care of and make allowances for actresses who choose to have children.
The actress shared that in order to be able to have a good balance in one's career, a mother has to have a wonderful support system, sharing that she luckily has an understanding husband who has helped her a lot while she worked. She says the reason why she has had a successful Hollywood career is because she and her husband worked as a team, especially when it came to raising their daughter.
Weaver is soon turning 65 years old, however, she said that unlike other women, she is actually looking forward to aging. Healthy and happy, the actress said that 65 doesn't mean that her life is over; rather she sees it as another exciting chapter in her life.
