EXO's Lu Han Filed Law Suit Due to Unjust Income Distribution and Lack of Media Exposure

It is now becoming clearer that EXO's former member Lu Han filed a lawsuit to nullify his contract with SM Entertainment because of  unjust income distribution and media publicity.

According to sources, Lu's legal team has disclosed these reasons behind the singer's lawsuit, allegedly released in a report which was submitted to Seoul High Court last October 15.

The report, according to sources, states that the South Korean entertainment outfit which manages EXO, has been treating the subunit EXO-K and EXO-M differently.

The statement claims that EXO-K, which consists of Korean members, has been receiving more funds from SM Entertainment since the beginning of their debut in the media industry while EXO-M, the Chinese counterpart of EXO-K, went through difficult times trying to get support and media publicity.

"Since EXO's debut, SM Entertainment has provided EXO-K members with more chances for active promotion while EXO-M could not receive financial support during their inactivity," the statement allegedly says.

Based on claims allegedly made in the report that the legal team has submitted, Lu only received a total of US$500,000 for promotions since October last year up to his last activity with the group last month.

According to the legal team, the amount is not comparable to the group's popularity, amount of promotional activities and overly tight schedules.

Furthermore, Lu's legal team also asserts that their unreasonably tight schedules and the company's constant infiltration into the private lives of the members have caused the singer's health to deteriorate.

On the other hand, SM Entertainment responded to Lu's lawsuit, claiming that they had speculations that his departure was a modus operandi no different from that of Kris Wu's earlier lawsuit against the company.

Lu and SM Entertainment have been given time by the Seoul High Court to settle matters first through mediation before further legal processes can be done.
