The matter about Chinese talents leaving the company had been put into light. However when asked about the reason, one guest lawyer, Jung Yun Suk, stated that the speculations that the Chinese members are leaving resulted from a precedent, that being Han Geng of Super Junior who also filed the same lawsuit against the company in 2009.
Lu and Kris Wu, who also left EXO in May this year, have coincidentally filed their cases on the same law firm that handled Han Geng's case.
According to Jung, since Han Geng won the case through that law firm, Lu and Wu might have given it the confidence and decided to let it handle their cases.
However, the lawyer also explained that if SM Entertainment has changed the contract since Han Geng's departure and got rid of the conditions which were deemed unjust back in 2009, the company has a chance of winning the case against the two former EXO members.
Despite the seemingly persistent reason that the contract SM Entertainment issues to its talents is unfair, Jung added that Lu and Wu possibly filed the case to venture to the Chinese market, being larger and posing more opportunities for their careers.
The lawyer also explained that besides the huge market, there was also the big possibility that since the singers have already garnered much attention and popularity, the possibility of their success in China is greater.
