Chinese government will again provide assistance totaling at least 100 million Yuan to affected areas in west Africa on the basis of previous assistance.

On September 18, President Xi Jinping announced an aid package of 200 million Yuan (about US$32.54 million) for western African countries including Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea to combat Ebola. The Chinese government has also sent medical supplies and medical experts to these countries.

China also earmarked $2 million for the World Health Organization and the African Union, and $6 million to the United Nations World Food Program in aid.

Xi received the credentials of nine new ambassadors at the Great Hall of the People on Wednesday, October 15. During the welcome, he pointed out that the current Ebola epidemic has become a common challenge for the international community in the non-traditional safety field.

"We will continue to work together with the international community to fight against the Ebola epidemic," Said the President.

Due to the epidemic in Western African countries, the National Health and Family Planning Commission of China issued a statement on Thursday, which requested every region to conduct self-inspection for Ebola hemorrhagic fever epidemic.

Health and family planning administrative departments, disease control institutions, fix-point hospitals, emergency centers, and general medical institutions in each level must complete self-inspection before October 31.
