Second seeded wild card entry Andy Murray won his opening match against Canadian Vasek Pospisil 6-4 6-4 to advance to the quarterfinals of the Erste Bank Open in Austria on Thursday.
The 27-year-old Scot broke Pospisil late in the first set and twice in the second set to register his first victory over the Canadian.

Murray seemed to have adjusted well in the indoor courts of Vienna since he hasn't played in one since February.
"It's my first time I've played indoors since Rotterdam seven or eight months ago, and it's always different playing indoors so it takes time," said Murray. "But I've been here a few days now and tried to get as much practice on that court as possible."
Britain's No. 1 Murray is in pursuit of the year-ending ATP World Tour Finals where he is currently in 10th place behind David Ferrer in the eight-man short list to London.
Canadian star Milos Raonic is in eighth place and has failed on his quest to extend his lead as he lost his opening match against Lithuanian qualifier Ricardas Berankis in three sets at the Kremlin Cup in Moscow.
The loss of Raonic means that both he and Ferrer will surpass him if both of them were able to advance to the semifinals.
The Shenzhen Open champion Murray will now face German Jan-Lennard Struff who fought a hard-earned win against Sergiy Stakhovsky of Ukraine in three sets 7(8)-6(6) 2-6 7(7)-6(3).
In the other side of the bottom half, a very unlikely pair has made it through the quarterfinals.
Brazilian Thomaz Bellucci came back from a set down to defeat third seeded Feliciano Lopez of Spain 6(9)-7(11) 6-1 6-4 in a match that lasted just over two hours.
Bellucci, 26, will go up against another upset winner Serbian qualifier Viktor Troicki who was triumphant over fifth seeded Lukas Rosol of the Czech Republic 6-3 6-2.
Troicki was a quarterfinalist at the recent Shenzhen Open in China where he defeated top seeded David Ferrer in the second round.
