Along with the unveiling of its new iPads, Apple also developed a SIM card that will allow consumers to switch between AT&T, Sprint, and T-Mobile without physically changing the SIM.
Users just need to pick a new wireless mobile carrier via the device's on screen settings.

Apple's new technology is called Apple SIM. It's available on the new iPad Air 2 and iPad Mini 3.
It's also possible Apple will add this technology to the iPhone so people can buy just one device to set-up with their wireless carrier of choice later on.
The Cupertino-based company said its latest SIM technology will work with short-term plans like the monthly and on-demand data packages from T-Mobile, AT&T, Sprint and EE. Verizon isn't yet included but Apple said the list of carriers could change in the near future.
Unfortunately, this technology is only available in the United States and United Kingdom.
The new Apple SIM is preinstalled on iPad Air 2 with Wi-Fi + Cellular models. Apple said the SIM gives users the flexibility to choose from a variety of short-term plans from select carriers in the U.S. and UK right on the iPad with no long-term commitments.
The Apple SIM can't be purchased separately for now but it comes out of the box in the cell-enabled iPad Air 2.
Apple launched an iMac with 27-inch 5K display, as well.
