Jude Law and his former girlfriend Catherine Harding are expecting their first child together. The baby will be Law's fifth child.

Although the two are no longer together, they have stated that they will do their utmost best in raising their child.

The news was confirmed by a representative of the 41-year old "Sherlock Holmes" actor.

According to Law's rep, "I can confirm that Jude Law and Catherine Harding are expecting a child together in the spring. They consider this a private matter and other than this confirmation no statement will be made. I ask that you respect the privacy of all parties involved and their families."

The star has three children with his ex-wife Sadie Frost - 18-year old Rafferty, 12-year old Rudy and 13-year old Iris. The couple, who divorced in 2003, share custody of the kids.

Law also has a 5-year old daughter named Sophia with American model Samantha Burke whom he had a brief romance with in 2008.

The "Holiday" actor has had a rather colorful and tumultuous love life, with his on-off relationship with actress Sienna Miller being the most high-profile.

Law and Miller met on the set of their 2003 movie "Alfie", only a short while after he had separated from Frost. Law proposed to Miller on Christmas Day 2004, but their relationship was in turmoil in 2005 when the actor admitted that he had an affair with his children's former nanny Daisy Wright while he was filming a movie in the United States.

Despite trying to save their relationship, Miller and Law called off their engagement in 2006.

The two rekindled their romance in 2009, but eventually split for good in 2011 just weeks into buying a home together in London.

Law shared five years ago that he has learned the importance of fatherhood throughout the years and, has since then shifted his priorities.

"Being a daddy is what counts. I used to sleep until noon, but it's not so bad to have to get up at 7 and give them breakfast. My daughter made me realise that if there's anything that's going to make a man of you, it's having your will broken by a little girl," he stated.
