Twitter to Show Tweets From Previous Interests

Twitter is testing the water with a new feature that displays tweets from accounts users currently don't follow. The new feature will add these tweets depending on user interests in the past, similar to how Facebook offers users friends requests based on other friends, or how Amazon offers related items to what you have previously bought.

This new feature comes alongside many others that are using Twitter's new algorithms. These algorithms will use the plethora of user data inputted onto the website - along with other aggregated information - to enhance Twitter feeds.

The new additions to the timeline feed will be more than just tweets; accounts and topics will also be added to the potential list. Twitter is working on making the percentage of these tweets and accounts small, in order to offer the best experience on Twitter.

Twitter's former changes have been hit with some scrutiny from the fan base. Especially when Twitter announced its API would be limited - compared to previous releases - removing a lot of third-party Twitter clients from desktop and mobile.

This was an effort to get more people using their own applications, rather than third party solutions that might not give ad-revenue over to Twitter. This new feature might allow Twitter to offer more promoted accounts and tweets, disguising them as normal tweets users might be interested in.
