Jimmy Iovine, co-founder of Intergeffen records and Beats Electronics - the company that created the "Beats by Dre" headphones - called rival company Bose culturally inept after their recent disputes in the National Football League (NFL).

Recently, San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick was fined US$10,000 because he was wearing Beats by Dre headphones during an NFL press conference.

The NFL had just signed an exclusive deal with Bose that stipulated that no player can be allowed to be seen with any other headphones when in front of the camera. This includes Kaepernick, who is one of the main athletes shown in previous Beats advertisements.

While this may seem like grim news for Beats, co-founder Iovine is happy about how things are playing out.

"It's like I can't believe I'm this lucky. I feel like sending them the tape," Iovine said.

Before people start thinking that Iovine had damaged his brain with all the music he has been listening to, there is a reason why it makes him happy.

The reason really is because Beats is getting free publicity from the NFL debacle.

He attributes the problem to Bose's lack of touch with pop culture. As he stated, people see Bose as the "uncool" headphones that parents use while Beats by Dre are portrayed as the cool ones.

Iovine stresses Bose's mistake, saying that no one at their rival company thought that banning Beats would make them look like the underdog, while making their own company look bad towards the young people.

His statements are coming true, as the issue is ballooning towards a league-wide problem.

Josh Bush of the New York Jets voiced his concern, saying that if he isn't able to wear Beats, then Bose should give them better products.

Still, the season continues, with more and more players putting masking tape over the Beats logo on their headsets instead of using the ones from Bose.
