According to news outlets, Wong Jing has taken to Sina Weibo to post his opinions regarding the protests. In his post, he expressed that he supports the police on their decision to resort to violent tactics against the protesters.
In his post, Wong Jing wrote, "I support the police! They're only doing their job and you splash urine on them? You can't complain if you are beaten to death! I don't think you've been beaten enough!"
Furthermore, the director has also openly stated that he will be severing ties with veteran actor Anthony Wong, China's leading critic Chapman To and Denise Ho, who also stated her allegiance to the protesters.
Wong, To and Ho have all openly stated that they are going to support the pro-democracy movement. According to Wong Jing, he will be respecting the three celebrities' political stand, however, he said that he is officially going to sever his ties with them. Additionally, he said he will stop communicating with them in whichever form possible.
In response to his announcement, Wong, who is also known for having a strong personality in his films and in real life, said that the director's actions and words are childish.
On the other hand, To bluntly commented that he doesn't see Wong Jing commenting in such a way about international Chow Yun Fat who also expressed his support for Occupy Central.
Ho, on the one hand, couldn't be bothered to comment about the matter, simply stating that she does not make a habit of commenting on such trivial matters.
Finally, a lot of netizens had been disappointed about Wong Jing's course of actions with some stating that they will be boycotting all of his upcoming films.
