Top seeded Tomas Berdych regained his crown after defeating defending champion Grigor Dimitrov at the If Stockholm Open in Sweden on Sunday.

World No. 7 Berdych was on track to regain his crown in the first set as he broke the Bulgarian and had the opportunity to serve out for the match at 5-4 but Dimitrov was more determined as he saved the set point and broke back to take the set at 7-5.

Berdych's serve was in-tune in the second set as he delivered 89 percent of his first serves to force Dimitrov behind the lines, move closer to the net and convert forehand winners to level the match.

The Czech native used that momentum to take the third and deciding set as well as he converted five service aces and hit 90 percent of second serves to regain his title since 2012 with a final score of 5-7 6-4 6-4 in a match that lasted two hours and 21 minutes.

"I give all my respect to Tomas," Dimitrov said. "It's never easy to lose a final, but he was just better out there today. He had bigger momentum in the second and third. That made the biggest difference."

Berdych, 29, just won his second title of the tournament, the first and only even he won twice.

"It's another season with two titles under my belt, which is good," said Berdych. "There are still a few chances to go this year. It's the best possible way to finish the week."

With the win, Berdych added an additional 250 points in his scorecard at the season-ending ATP World Tour Finals where he is currently in seventh position in the eight-man short list.

Dimitrov, on the other hand, gathered 150 points but is still 330 points short of current eighth placer Andy Murray.

Berdych is now heading to Spain and participate at the Valencia Open 500 where he is seeded second while David Ferrer is top seed.

Dimitrov will also compete next week but at Basel, Switzerland where Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Stan Wawrinka are also participating.
