Peyton Manning, quarterback to the National Football League's (NFL) Denver Broncos, has broken the all-time record for career touchdown passes with win over the San Francisco 49ers (42-17).

It has been three years since Manning has returned from his spinal fusion surgery. In what is now an amazing comeback story, the 38-year old quarterback has passed Brett Favre's record with his 509th career touchdown.

At the start of the game, Manning had 506 career touchdown passes, and needed three to break the record.

The 507th came in the eight minute mark of the first quarter, with a three-yard pass to Emmanuel Sanders. The next came with only 1:22 in the same quarter, as Wes Walker caught Manning's 508th; a 39-yard touchdown pass.

The 49ers were not to be left out. They came alive in the second quarter, with Phil Dawson putting up the first points with a field goal, and Colin Kaepernick delivering a touchdown pass to Stevie Johnson.

However, the 49ers could not stop history from being made.

With 3:09 remaining in the first half, Manning threw an 8-yard touchdown pass to Demaryius Thomas. This was Manning's 509th career touchdown pass, breaking the all-time record.

The Broncos played a video tribute with messages from Favre, John Elway, and some of Manning's teammates. After Julian Thomas slyly ran to keep the record football from Manning, they eventually gave it to their quarterback to keep.

Manning wasn't done though. Known to not rest on his laurels, Manning passed one more touchdown in the start of the third quarter to Thomas again, bringing up the record to 510.

The fourth quarter feature limited action, with the 49ers' backup quarterback Blaine Gabbert throwing a touchdown pass to Bruce Ellington.

Through three quarters, Manning was 22 of 26, throwing for 318 yards with four touchdown passes. He leads his team to an improved record of 5-1.
