The operation between the two countries will commence soon and will follow a priority list to hunt down the most wanted fugitive officials. Australia is identified as one of the most popular exits where corrupt officials go to.

According to the AFP, the corrupt fugitives have been identified as naturalized Australian citizens and permanent residents of Australia. They have continued to launder their illegally-owned money by being business migrants and investors in the country.

Hill noted that the officials are not fleeing the country after a short stay, but they are carefully planning how to acquire more money. He added that some of the corrupt officials either send their spouses or children to do the work for them to avoid getting caught.

Hill pressed that these officials do not have any assets on their name but eventually, the put their money on legitimate assets like that of houses, shares, and bank accounts.

According to the Global Financial Integrity group, they estimated that almost US$3 trillion have flowed out of China illegally from 2005 until 2011.

Chinese President Xi Jinping then started the anti-corruption drive that has the main goal of bringing back the corrupt officials to face trial in China. The operation stated back in 2014 and is called as "Fox Hunt" and had successful operations since then.
