Sonia Gandhi: Congress Party Will Now Play Constructive And Vigilant Role

President Sonia Gandhi said her party will give the people in Maharashtra and Haryana the change they have voted for after 15 and 10 years.

This was after the loss of power of the Congress in the two states. Ghandi along with Vice President Rahul Gandhi said they would play a vigilant and constructive role in the Maharashtra and Haryana. They also congratulated BJP after winning the election and expected the latter to fulfill their promises to the people.

In a statement, Sonia Gandhi said the Congress party has accepted the outcome of the election with humility. She also said Maharashtra voters have trusted the Congress party thrice while the people of Haryana have placed their confidence in the party thrice. Furthermore, she said the new government should accomplish all their promises.

Sonia Gandhi also expressed gratitude to the supporters of Congress party. Workers, were cited in particular, whom she said gave their unstinting and tireless commitment to the ideology of the party.

In a separate statement, Raul Gandhi said the party has already accepted the judgment of the people. He also said the people of Haryana and Maharashtra has made their choice and opted for change. Furthermore, he said the Congress party would work hard to win back the people’s confidence while congratulating their opponent, BJP.

Haryana AICC Secretary General Shakeel Ahmed said they will analyze the performance of the party which was below what was expected. Meanwhile, former Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan took responsibility over the Congress party’s defeat during the election at the Maharashtra Assembly.

Chavan said the poor performance of the party was disappointing. However, it got better at some point after the Lok Sabha election. On the other hand, BJP's win in Maharashtra and Haryana indicated clearly that a Modi wave got them to the top position in the two states.
