The victim was identified as Abdullah Abdullatif Alkadi, 23, who had been missing since September 17 from his home in Northridge near California State University where he majors in electrical engineering. His body was found 150 miles away from his home.
According to police officials and prosecutors, Fernandez and Alkadi met because of an ad posted by the student stating his car was for sale.
The Los Angeles Police Department said that prosecutors have yet to decide if Fernandez will be leveled with the death penalty or given life in prison without any parole or bail.
According to reports, Alkadi is a native from Khobar, Saudi Arabia and is one of seven children. He has been living in the United States since 2010, according to his 32-year-old brother Ahmed Alkadi.
The murder victim's brother alleges that Alkadi really wanted to study in the U.S. in order to make himself and everyone else around him proud. His brother pressed that although what happened is not in their hands, he still stated that regardless of the nationality or religion of his brother, he was a human being and he did not deserve to die.
Ahmed noted that he will be taking back his brother's body back to Saudi Arabia for the burial rites.
