Spotify has announced a discount program for families.

Spotify Family will allow its subscribers to add up to four accounts at half the usual price, which is US$10. Adding two family members to the primary account will only cost US$20 per month, The primary account costs US$10 while US$5 will be charged for each added account.

"With Spotify Family you can now invite up to four family members and share one billing account whilst keeping your listening history, recommendations and playlists completely separate," said Spotigy.

Spotify Family  members can log in on different devices all at the same time and play music at once.

The new Spotify plan is the latest development in the music streaming pricing wars. Online music services are all the rage and firms compete against each other and record companies by slashing prices.

Earlier this year, Spotify introduced a plan for college students, cutting its streaming price by half. This plan's still available.

In April, the Swedish music streaming service partnered with Sprint and offered "family" program (networks of friends and family) that allow people to get Spotify for just US$5 per month for 18 months.

A similar offer from Netflix allows multiple users to have their own profile on the same account. Netflix doesn't bill extra for this.

Rdio and other music-streaming services are also offering student and family discounts.
